About the research centre

Established in April 2025, the National Health Intelligence Center (NHIC) represents an innovative initiative undertaken by the Government of Rwanda to transform healthcare through data-driven decision-making. As a centralised platform, the NHIC consolidates and analyses real-time health data from various sources, including health facilities, disease surveillance systems, and community health workers, utilising advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence. Its six-layer digital architecture facilitates data flow, supporting functions such as disease outbreak prediction, health financing optimisation, and capacity building. The NHIC enhances Rwanda’s health system by integrating data and providing insights for policymakers and healthcare providers.
