Organiser: Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Norway
The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a global partnership dedicated to accelerating the development of vaccines against emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) and ensuring equitable access to these life-saving tools. At the heart of CEPI’s mission work is the 100-Day Mission (100DM)—an ambitious goal to enable the rapid development of vaccines within 100 days of an emerging virus, thereby preventing localised outbreaks from escalating into global health crises. Through strategic investments in vaccine R&D, local manufacturing and research preparedness, CEPI collaborates with governments, research institutions and industry partners to strengthen global health security and advance the 100 Days Mission. In Africa, CEPI is actively working with governments and key regional organisations, including ACDC, AHRI, INRB-DRC, IPD, KEMRI-WT, NCDC, Rwanda Biomedical Institute, WAHO, Ministries of Health, among others, to enhance regional capacity-building and research and pandemic preparedness.
In this interactive satellite session, we will examine how CEPI is supporting countries to integrate the 100 Days Mission into their national systems, showcase vaccine development initiatives tailored to Africa’s needs and highlight upcoming EDCTP3 and CEPI joint funding calls in 2025.
We aim to demonstrate how, by joining forces, we can leverage our collective strengths to accelerate vaccine innovation, support R&D capabilities for improved sustainability of research sites for pandemic preparedness and empower local stakeholders in the fight against emerging infectious diseases.
